Hello, Adventurers! A major update is coming to Everweave tomorrow, bringing two new subclasses, four Seasonal Starts, substantial Dialogue Mode improvements, new dice roll interactions, balance changes, and many highly requested fixes. There is a lot to discover, so let’s take a closer look at everything included in the update.
Two New Subclasses
Barbarian — Path of Runes
Master ancient signs of power and learn how to use different runes throughout your adventures. This subclass introduces a new progression system focused on discovering, learning, and combining magical signs.
Paladin — Oath of the Sublime
Brave and charismatic knights who have sworn to seek out and protect the beauty of the world. The Oath of the Sublime offers a new approach to the Paladin fantasy, built around inspiration, courage, and wonder.
Four New Seasonal Starts
Four new opening scenarios are being added to the Seasonal Start rotation:
- Bustling Festival
- Note Under the Door
- Empty Quay
- Road Through the Fields
The Desolate Beach start is also returning to the rotation, while Crowded Infirmary is being moved to storage.
Dialogue Mode Improvements
This update includes a large number of changes designed to make conversations feel more consistent, natural, and reliable.
Better NPC and Companion Behaviour
- Improved NPC memory
- Better understanding of conversational context
- Improved context handling for companions
- Fewer cases of the DM confusing characters, perspectives, or verb tenses
More Reliable Dialogue Scenes
- One NPC leaving will no longer automatically close the entire scene
- Dialogue scenes should end prematurely much less often
- Player intent is now preserved more accurately when responses are rephrased
- Your original wording will be changed less during interpretation
- Inventory exchanges during dialogue should now work correctly
- More than ten smaller issues that could prevent dialogue scenes from starting have been resolved
Because scenes are now less likely to end automatically, you may need to state more clearly when you want to leave a conversation.
A new system indicator has also been added to show when a dialogue scene is being prepared.
Stability and Message Limits
The player input limit has been increased to 2,500 characters.
Narrative DM responses can now contain up to 300 words per message.
These limitations are primarily used to maintain stability. Since they were introduced, we have observed a reduction in error rates of more than 60%.
We are continuing to explore ways to reduce errors without relying on message limits. However, many potential solutions require additional AI processing layers, which would significantly increase the cost of every generated message. Because of this, we cannot currently promise further limit increases with complete certainty.
Progression and Difficulty Balancing
The experience curve has been adjusted to make character progression feel smoother.
- Level thresholds have been reduced
- The XP curve is now more consistent
- Difficulty Class balancing has been improved
- Skill checks should generally be easier
- Rolls should more accurately reflect their displayed DC
A bug that could cause rolls to be checked against a higher DC than the one shown to the player has also been fixed.
New Dice Roll Window
The Dice Roll window has received a major visual and functional update.
The new version provides more information and introduces interactive dice, making important checks more engaging and easier to understand.
Coming in a Future Update
We are currently developing interface options that will allow players to:
- Exit dialogue scenes without spending a message
- Ask companions to leave the group without spending a message
These features require additional development and are expected to arrive on the live servers within the next few weeks.
New Artwork Rules
New artwork rules are now available in the Rules section and are also pinned in the Artwork channel.
Please make sure to review them before sharing new artwork. That was a long list, but it includes many changes requested by the community. We hope the new subclasses, adventures, dialogue improvements, and system updates make your journeys even more enjoyable.
Go forth and explore! Happy Adventuring!
